The neuro hat is an experimental device from an independent investigator. Clinical detail is limited.
Case histories show that the hat does improve the patient's condition, sometimes dramatically.
A fifty-one-year-old man, medium build, was blinded from a contracoup brain damage auto accident in the fall of 1984. He was an army ranger and was discharged due to permanent brain damage. He takes medication for seizures, pain, and constipation. He is married with two teenage children and works as a Stephen Minister. He was given a leather neuro hat and a baseball cap in December, 2014. He slept with the leather hat. A month later he regained some peripheral vision which is attributed to the hat. He can see when he is relaxed. When he has a severe headache he can no longer see. As of summer 2015 he states that his degree of vision has reached a plateau. He could not wear the hats in the summer but will begin wearing them again in the fall when the weather is cooler.
A fifty-four-year-old female with moderate build was knocked off her bike in July of 2011 and suffered a moderate traumatic brain injury. She had temporary amnesia for a week. She had no previous illnesses and does not take any medication. She also had an auto accident at age 17 but did not suffer a brain injury at that time. She started wearing the hat May 21, 2015. She suffers from brain fatigue as a result of her injury and can only function for three hours at a time. When she reaches her work limit, she must stop whatever activity she is doing and rest. She stated that wearing the neuro hat extends her brain function time 20%. She can work longer at different tasks as a result of wearing the hat. She sleeps with the hat on six to eight hours a night. During the hot summer months she stopped wearing the hat because it is hot to wear but started wearing it again in September. Her occupation is a bookkeeper and she still has some bookkeeping accounts.
